Roller Blades

Corey got to roller blade at Deanna's the other day, and has been talking non-stop about getting roller blades. So after hockey Saturday, we told him that he could use the money that he got for "graduation" from pre-school to buy roller blades. Talk about excited! We found a pair at Sports Authority that are adjustable, and should fit him for quite a while. He couldn't wait to get home and put them on and try them out.

We decided to go and see a movie afterwards (Over the Hedge - it was cute), and it started to rain a little bit as we were going into the theater. Corey was all upset that he wouldn't get to skate. We tried to explain to him that just because it's raining in Fairview Heights, doesn't mean it's raining at home.

Fortunately, after the movie and by the time we got home, it was nice and sunny and he was able to try them out. He did fairly well, considering. Thank goodness for elbow pads and helmets. It's kind of hard to blade on the driveway, because it's so rough, but he did a good job in the garage where the concrete is nice and smooth.

Skated again on Sunday, it was even warmer then. He was a ball of sweat by the time he was ready to call it quits. Jerry helped him shoot some pucks at the net, trying to teach him how to balance. It's just going to take some practice, I think. Hopefully, he won't get too bruised!
